ATTRIBUTES & 3D INTERPRETATION
ABOUT US
We are 3rd year 1st semester Petroleum Geoscience students from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) which currently doing project on seismic interpretation of Malay basin to fulfill the requirement of our subject, QBB 3053: Attributes & 3D Volume Interpretation. Basically, throughout this project, we interpret the subsurface of Malay basin from the data seismic acquisition which given by our lecturer, Madam Siti Nur Fathiyah using the Petrel software.However, to interpret the seismic data, we need to understand about the subsurface formation and evolution and how they react with seismic wave. We have used the seismic attribute during this interpretation since the seismic attribute are very essential for interpretation as the attribute are sensitive to desired geological features or reservoir property of interest.
We conducted the project according to the Gantt Chart which took almost one month to complete project. Throughout the project, there were obstacles but we went trough it smoothly. Some of the major obstacles including lack of experience and knowledge in using Petrel software, technical problem on the computer, and lack of information about the geological setting of the study area. Despite having the obstacles, we managed to learn great things that can be imply in the future. We learn to work as a team and enhance our communication skills.
OBJECTIVES

To apply various seismic attributes that we have learned from the lectures into the data set given by Madam Fathiyah.

To sharpen our skills in communication and team's work as it will benefit us in future careers.

To train ourselves in using Petrel software, a software that are widely used especially in oil and gas industry. Knowledge about the software can be an advantage to our side in applying the job in the field.

To be able to interpret the geological information by the application of seismic attributes such as:

Structural Attributes (Dip-Azimuth, Curvature-Variance & Coherence)

Stratigraphic Attributes (Relative Acoustic Impedance, RMS Amplitude)

Signal Processing Attributes (Structural Smoothing, Trace AGC) as surface attributes and volume attributes.
